Family Medicine Residency Program
Physicians at Sugar Creek (PSC)
In Sept of 2007 the Residency Program consolidated its three outpatient clinics and moved into a newly built facility called Physicians at Sugar Creek (PSC). This state of the art clinical facility is the new training site for all three years of your outpatient clinical experience. The new PSC has a total of 40,000 thousand sq. ft. The first floor is the patient care area consisting of five “pods”, a total of 58 exam rooms, 4 procedure rooms, laboratory draw and processing station, X-ray, and urgent care/occupational medicine departments. The second floor houses the administrative offices, clinical faculty offices, three conference rooms, a large classroom, a resident work area, an exercise room, and two locker/shower facilities. It also houses our telephone call center, nurse triage, billing center and the break/dining area. The entire facility has wireless as well as standard wired computer connections combined with the use of one of the most powerful electronic medical record system.
From Day 1 in the residency, you will be assigned families for whom
you will provide medical care during your three years here. You will
see members of those families for well care, and for acute and chronic
illnesses. You will deliver their babies, and counsel them during times
of crisis.
Patients seen at the PSC represent the range of
socioeconomic and ethnic groups typically seen by family physicians.
In the first year of training, residents spend two half-days per week
seeing patients at the PSC. Three half-days per week
are spent at the centers during the second and third years.
