David W. Bauer M.D.

Biography: Following residency, he was in individual and small group practice part time, while teaching at the Northridge Residency part time. He joined the Memorial Family Medicine faculty in 1997 and assumed the residency director position in 2001. Dr. Bauer enjoys the full spectrum of family medicine and has a strong interest in the use of technology to enhance both resident education and patient care. In his free time, he enjoys woodworking and magic, as well as spending time with his wife, Leslie, and two boys, Nathan and Gavin.

Jamie Cazares, M.D.

Biography: Dr. Cazares earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his Family Practice residency at the Rush Presbyterian -- St. Luke's - Christ Hospital Family Medicine Program. He worked at several residencies in Illinois and Texas prior to joining the Memorial Family Practice Residency Program in 2003. While in Chicago, he completed a faculty development program at Cook County Hospital Family Practice Fellowship Program. He gained additional research experience at The University of Chicago in the Diabetes Research Training Center (DRTC). He continues to maintain an interest in health and wellness for all patients with diabetes. Dr. Cazares has been active with the American Academy of Family Physicians in the following capacities: served on the Minority Health Affairs Committee, appointed to the AAFP Commission on Education, elected as one of the first Minority Physician Delegates and selected as the Convener for the Women Minority and New Physician Conference. He is married, has two daughters and is fluent in Spanish. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor sports and running in marathons.

Dallas Coate, M.D.

Biography: Born and reared a Hoosier, Dr. “Dallas” has always been accused of being a Texan, and since 1994 he has been one. Dr. Coate practiced in a small town for 14 years and then completed a 12 month obstetric fellowship. He has been in academics since 1994 teaching at Memorial Family Medicine Residency and the Brazos Family Practice Residency.

Victoria Tu Do, M.D.

Biography:
Dr. Do received her medical degree from St. George's Medical School, London, United Kingdom. She completed her internship in England and her residency in Family Medicine at Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program. She served as the inpatient hospitalist at Memorial Hermann Fort Bend Hospital and joined as faculty in 2004. Dr. Do is interested in evidence-based medicine, women's health and preventive care. Her philosophy in the training of residents is directed at a warm and approachable faculty/resident relationship, encouraging questions and discussion so that each graduating resident will become an excellent family physician. Dr. Do is fluent in Vietnamese. She enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter Olivia and Son Mark.

Geraldine C. Gossard, M.D.

Hometown: Charlestown, Ireland

Residency: Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program, Houston, Texas
Biography: Dr. Gossard came to the United States from Ireland. She graduated from the University College Galway School of Medicine in 1982. She completed rotating residency in family medicine in Ireland and England. She joined Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program as a resident in 1993 and stayed on as assistant professor of the Department of Family and Community Medicine and faculty at the program. Dr. Gossard's interests include women's health, prevention and geriatrics. She has a strong interest in evidence-based medicine and research and has presented at national conferences. Dr. Gossard and her husband, Carl, have two young sons and, when not at the ballpark, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, travel and golf.

Paul Guttuso, M.D.

Biography: Dr Guttuso was previously a Partner at Watson Clinic in Lakeland, Florida and worked in their High Acuity Urgent Care. While there he was team physician for Florida Southern College, and Involved with the Detroit Tigers Minor league and Spring Ball Preseason. Prior to that he was Team Physician for Beaumont ISD, Lamar University, and was Co-organizer of medical coverage for national ASA softball tournament yearly while in Beaumont. He currently is Team Physician for Marshall and Hightower High Schools and is involved in covering 3 other high schools from a medical standpoint. He is developing and creating a dynamic sports medicine experience at the residency which will involve all modalities of sports medicine: Athletic trainers, Physical therapy, Orthopedics, Sports Nutrition/supplementation, Sports Psychology, etc. He hopes some residents take an interest in sports medicine and participate more longitudinally with a local school acting as a resident team physician. On a personal level he is active with his Wife and three young sons (twins age 3 and a two year old).

Percy Howard, III , M.D.

Biography: After serving with the United States Air Force for four years and obtaining his undergraduate degree at Houston Baptist University, Dr. Howard attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he received his medical degree. His Family Medicine residency training was completed at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals Residency Program in Houston . Dr. Howard has worked with the Memorial Family Medicine clinics for a number of years, joining the faculty in October 2003.

Peter C. K. Kwan, M.D.

Hometown: Resident of Houston, Texas since 1967.

Biography: Dr. Kwan has been a faculty member at Memorial Family Practice since 1993. He has special interests in foreign medical missionary work and he is a volunteer for Living Water International. He serves as onsite medical director for Texas Lions Camp for Diabetic Children. He leads residents on short-term medical mission trips to Central America. He is coordinator for resident participation in the above programs.

Paul Locus M.D. FACOG

Biography:After residency, Dr. Locus served in the US Air Force for a combined active duty and reserve service of 11 years.  He served as faculty and then director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Education Program at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas, as well as Assistant Director of the St. Joseph's Ob/Gyn Residency Program until 1998.  Throughout this time period Dr. Locus also maintained a private obstetrics and gynecology practice, which has been his sole professional focus until December 2007, when he returned resident teaching.  He enjoys hands-on resident education and practices complete obstetric and gynecologic care, both clinic and inpatient, medicinal and surgical.  Dr. Locus is fluent in American Sign Language and has served on the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing ( now DARS).

Dale C. Moquist, M.D.

Biography: Dr. Moquist received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas He completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Minnesota Family Medicine Residency at North Memorial Medical Center. He is board certified in family medicine and holds the CAQ in Geriatrics and a CMD for Long Term Care. After being in private practice for 20 years and working with other residency programs, Dr. Moquist joined the Memorial Family Medicine Residency in August 2004 and now serves as medical director for the Southwest Clinic. He is particularly interested in organized medicine, evidence-based medicine and electronic medical records.

Wilson R. Moscoso, M.D.

Medical School: Catholic University of Cuenca, Ecuador
Residency: University of Texas-Houston Medical School Family Medicine Residency Program
Biography: Dr. Moscoso graduated from the School of Medical Sciences at the Catholic University of Cuenca in 1981 and then completed residencies in Internal Medicine and General Surgery in his native Cuenca, Ecuador. After immigrating to the United States in 1990, he completed a Family Medicine Residency at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he served as chief resident. He stayed on as assistant professor at the Department of Family and Community Medicine for several years before joining the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Moscoso is particularly interested in office procedures and health care policy.

Samuel Wang, M.D.

Hometown: Houston, Texas
Undergraduate School and Degree: Rice University, B.A.
Medical School: UT-Houston Medical School
Residency: St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency Program, Edgewood, KY
Biography: Dr. Wang received his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston and went on to complete a Family Medicine residency at St. Elizabeth Hospital in northern Kentucky. Following his residency training, Dr. Wang practiced medicine in a large multi-specialty group in Houston for over four years before joining the Memorial Family Medicine Residency. He now serves as medical director for the Sugar Land Clinic. Dr. Wang is board certified in Family Medicine and has a special interest in computerized medical records. He is married, has two children and speaks Mandarin. His hobbies include computers and technology, music, racquetball and cars.

George O. Zenner Jr., M.D.

Hometown: Born in Niagara Falls, NY. Grew up in Houston, Texas.

Residency: Internship at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas
Biography: Dr. Zenner was in solo practice from 1963 to 1978 and has been on the Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital staff since 1963. He joined the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in 1978, where he served as director until 1985, and then again from 1996 until 2001. He has continued as a member of the faculty throughout this time. Dr. Zenner serves as the Director of the Continuing Medical Education Committee at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. He has been instrumental in developing curriculum for primary care education of medical students and residents, as well as the practicing physician.

Internal Medicine Faculty

N. Perryman Collins Jr., M.D.

Hometown: Houston, Texas

Biography: Dr. Collins was in private practice prior to joining the faculty in 1995. He earned a B.S. degree from Louisiana College in Pineville, LA, and his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training in 1988 at Tulane Affiliated Hospitals in New Orleans. He is board certified in internal medicine and is the director of the Family Medicine Adult Inpatient service at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. He has been with the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program for 10 years. He has an interest in research and serves at the co-instructor of the Research Seminar for the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program. His hobbies include spending time with his wife and two teenagers.

Danuta S. Blicharski, M.D.

Hometown: Brisbane, Australia

Biography: After completing her fellowship, Dr. Blicharski was in private practice in Houston for 20 years. She joined the faculty of the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in 1999 as instructor in Pediatrics. She loves teaching residents and to pass on to the next generation all she has learned during her years in practice. She believes that passing on what she has learned, makes those years worth twice the value. She has also kept her interest in Pediatric Hematology and gets excited when she sees an abnormal CBC. Her husband is professor of Psychiatry at Baylor Medical College, where her older daughter is entering her final year of medical school. Her younger daughter is a market analyst in New York City.

Occupational Medicine Faculty

Maria G. Michas, M.D., M.P.H.

Biography: Dr. Michas joined the faculty in 2002, where she developed and currently directs the occupational medicine curriculum for the residency program. Dr. Michas also conducts executive physicals at the Memorial Hermann HBU Wellness Institute and helped develop their Travel Medicine program. She also provides occupational and preventive medicine service for the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, as well as several private companies in the Houston area. Her areas of interest include public health, travel medicine and wilderness medicine. In her spare time, Dr. Michas enjoys playing the piano, reading and traveling with her daughter Christina.

Julie D. Adkison, PharmD

Hometown: Rockport, Texas

Residency: Pharmacy Residency with University of Houston and Memorial Hermann Healthcare System
Biography: Dr. Adkison joined the Memorial Family Medicine Residency faculty in April 2002. She received a B.A. degree from the University of Texas and a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Houston. She completed her residency with the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and worked in a large public health system before joining the faculty. Dr. Adkison is responsible for educating residents on the appropriate use of pharmaceutical agents, as well as cost effective prescribing. Her areas of interest include diabetes, complementary and alternative medicine and drug information. She is married and has three young sons.

Biography: Dr. Harper has been with the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program for 15 years. She has had past faculty appointments at Baylor College of Medicine (Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry) and UT-Houston Medical School (Department of Psychiatry). Her research interests include behavioral medicine, geriatrics, patient-centered medicine and personality disorders.
